Healthy Lunch List

I just ran across a great list of lunch ideas, that are healthy and tasty for both adults and children.  I usually end up in a rut for lunches, making the same things week after week.  This list was great when I was menu planning today.  I found it over at a site that I have really started liking.  Heavenly Homemakers.com .

Homemade Laundry Soap

My Friend Stacy over at www.2savvygals.blogspot.com has a great recipe for Homemade Laundry soap.  She has used it forever and loves it.  I am not "allowed" to use it.  I have a husband whoses one request in life is that we have nice smelling laundry which he means heavily scented, so that is one area I don't skimp on.  It is a small price to pay for a happy husband.  Check it out she has great pictures and instruction.  Here is all she uses:

Green or thrifty? You decide.

I just wanted to pass on this tip that I used often.
We buy Target brand nuts in this container:

And when they are gone (which doesn’t take long)-

I take off the label and use them for the storage of all kinds of things.

In this one I have pattern blocks that the kids use.  I also use them for glitter glue and anything that is small that needs contained.
I also found this cool craft that was super easy, otherwise I would not have done it.  I apologize that I don’t remember where I saw it.  I don’t take credit for the idea just the container usage.  Anyway, here it is.  It is an I-spy jar.  You put little objects in the jar of rice and your children can turn it this way and that to find the toys.  Great portable entertainment.

A Great Bargain on Yeast for your Bread Maker.

I make a lot of homemade bread for our family.  Now don’t get like that!  I use my trusty bread maker of course and I have the easiest recipe known to man. 
So, anyway since I make so much bread we go through tons of yeast, well more like pounds but it is a lot.  I found a bargain at Sam’s club on yeast.  In the grocery store yeast is about $5 for 4 oz. unbelievable! At Sam’s club I get 2 lbs for less than $6.  Huge huge difference.  I have used this for years so I can vouch for its ability to work well everytime.  Check it out!

I do keep this in the freezer.  I have an old jar from the expensive yeast I purchased long ago so I keep a small amount in that in the fridge.  Yeast is kept best in cool dark places so the dark container kept in the fridge is the perfect spot.
